Guidelines for Health

10 Steps to Health:

1.  Identify physical hunger versus non-physical hunger (emotional).

2.  Eat when you are physically hungry.

3.  Stop when you are physically satisfied or full.

4.  Eat what you are craving when you are physically hungry.

5.  Attempt to eat mindfully and undistracted when possible.

6.  Eat slowly–allow 15 to 20 minutes for fullness cues to register.

7.  Do physical activity that you enjoy.  Aim for 1.5 to 2.5 hours of ‘fun’ each week.

8.  Develop skills and habits to minimize stress and anxiety.

9.  You can be healthy at any size.  The BMI is a poor predictor of health.

10. Learn to trust your body and your self.  Eating and body weight are primarily biologically determined and should not require excessive concern.
